Congratulations to our Battle of the Books Team!

We are very proud of their hard work! It is a great day to be a Dragon!

Monday- Team Travel Day- Dress in NRES gear or colors (navy and gold) to support our Battle of the Books Team as they compete
Tuesday- Tropical Tourist Tuesday– Hawaiian shirts, leis, and beach hats for a vacation vibe.
Wednesday- World Traveler Wednesday- Dress like a world traveler or pilot! Wear travel accessories like sunglasses, fanny packs, and luggage tags.

Friday- Cozy up to a Good Book and Travel the world without leaving your chair! It’s Pajama Day!
Monday- Our Battle of the Books team competes against Germanton Elementary and Sandy Ridge Elementary at Piney Grove Middle. We wish them luck and success.
There will be Battle of the Books practice on Tuesday until 3:15pm, if our team wins Monday’s semi-final battle.
Wednesday- Drama Club extended until 4 PM until further notice
Wednesday is also Kindergarten Registration for children who will be in Kindergarten next school year. If you know someone who needs an appointment, please have them contact Kelly in the office to schedule one.
Don’t forget that our chocolate bar fundraiser is going on NOW! Let’s work hard to reach our schoolwide goal of 4,000 bars!
4th and 5th grade students attending the Outer Banks trip need to look out for rooming information. Any adults attending the trip must have a secure volunteer form.
K/1 Field Trip information was sent home. Please try to return this quickly so we have an idea of who is going. If an adult plans to attend you are considered a chaperone and will need to fill out the background form. Contact your teacher if you are unsure where to find this information.
It is School Breakfast Week. Be sure to eat breakfast in the cafeteria this week. Check the bottom of your tray for a sticker each day to see if you win one of the prizes.

Reminder:
Tomorrow is Lunch with a Loved One followed by shopping at our book fair. The cost for a guest lunch is $4 (exact change requested). We're going to try to stick to our usual lunch schedule, but due to the number of loved ones joining us, your child's lunch time may be a little delayed.
The book fair will be open following your child's lunch. We can accept cash, card or checks (payable to NRES PTO). So far, the registers seem to be cooperating for the few card transactions that we have processed, but there may be some glitches with a larger volume of transactions. Your patience is appreciated.
At our Fall Fair, the layout was a little crowded for the larger student body that we have. So, I made a few adjustments to the layout to hopefully ease some of the congestion. There will be two registers running (at least for part of the time), one of which will be for card only purchases. I've put down some bright orange and green tape on the floor to help you know where the lines form.
And, some of our teachers have selected some books for their classroom wish list. Those books are available in bins near the door. If you'd like to purchase a book for the teacher, pull it from the basket and bring it through with your purchases. You can deliver it yourself, or we can deliver it for you.
Please let us know if you'd like to "round up" your purchase to the next whole dollar to "Share the Fair" with students whose family is unable to afford book fair purchases.
A portion of every dollar spent at our book fair allows us to purchase new books and materials for our library. We thank you for your support of our Dragons and we will see everyone tomorrow!

Our Dragons collected more than 1,500 pounds of food for the Northern Stokes Food Pantry. Mrs. Kelly agreed to get a pie in the face by the grade level(s) that filled their box completely. Third grade had a box that was filled to the brim. To make it fair, Mr. Richardson drew the names to two third graders to be the ones to dish out the pies. Indie and Ava got the honors. Mr. Dustin and Mr. Blake had a sneaky and smelly surprise in one of the pies... sardines. Mrs. Kelly was not a fan.
Thank you to all who made donations toward our Food Drive! Our community will benefit greatly from your generosity.
Thank you also to Mrs. Kelly for being a good sport!

THE FOOD DRIVE HAS BEEN EXTENDED!
The food drive benefiting the Northern Stokes Food Pantry has been extended to Friday, February 21. The food collected will go right back to folks who live in our community through the Food Pantry. Collection boxes are set up in the foyer in front of the cafeteria.
Remember: The grade level with the most cans earns an ice cream party courtesy of the Francisco Ruritans Club. Third grade is currently in the lead! And, Mrs. Kelly has graciously agreed to having a pie to the face for every box that is filled to the top! What a great sport she is!
Wouldn't it be great to fill all 6 boxes? Just think of all of the people who would benefit from your generosity! And, Mrs. Kelly would have plenty of pie, so much that she may share with someone else!
